When we first opened the GOODS Dept Pacific Place on 2012, we collaborated with local artist Sales Husein to create a mural to decorate the dining space at the GOODS Cafe. The mural consists of topographic pattern in bold white lines drawn on black walls. Mainly inspired by Jakarta daily life such as the traffic congestion, human density, squeeze between skyscraper buildings, as well as the dark-slum-narrow alleys that have become regular fare for those who live here. By using the topographic pattern, the intimate experience attempts to translate as a visual language, a language that is difficult to understand when we have never been familiar with the geographic shape of the city. The mural has now become a part of the GOODS Dept identity, which has translate in several GOODS merchandise and now the JanSport Right Pack collaboration with The GOODS Dept.
