In special cases, if you need your repair back before the normal expected turnaround time, we can do a rush repair for you for no additional charge. To request a rush, please send your product to us by way of Federal Express, UPS 2nd Day Air, or some other speedy means. Please write RUSH in big letters on the box. Include a note, asking us to do a rush repair, with your name, address, and phone number. Please explain what the necessary repairs are, and give us the date you need your product back. Adjusting Straps: Adjust the shoulder straps of your backpack to ensure a comfortable fit; the easiest way to do this is pull down and back on the webbing at the bottom of the strap. The backpack should fit snugly against your back without sagging or pulling on your shoulders.
Hip Belt: If your pack features a hip belt, ensure it is fastened correctly to distribute the weight evenly across your hips and reduce any strain on your back and shoulders. Ideally the hip belt should sit centered on your iliac crest, these are the top of your hip bones that are the most prominent at your sides. Another way to ensure your hip belt is fitted correctly is to position it so that the buckle is over your belly button.
Sternum Straps: Some packs feature sternum straps. These are mounted around the center of the shoulder straps and go across your chest to help stabilize and distribute the load more evenly. After you get the shoulder strap length adjusted comfortably, position the sternum straps across your chest, ideally just below your clavicle but placement can be personal preference. Be careful not to overtighten or it could interfere with your breathing.
Step 1: Choose the Right Backpack: Choosing the right backpack is the first and most important step to ensure comfort and accessibility. The backpack should be proportional to your body size and have a padded back, and shoulder straps to distribute the weight evenly. We also recommend having multiple compartments in the backpack to help you organize your items better.
Step 2: Prioritize Essentials: Make a list of the essential items you need to carry in your backpack. This may include books, notebooks, a laptop, a charger, a water bottle, snacks, and any other necessary materials. It's important to prioritize the most critical items and leave out the non-essential ones to avoid overloading your backpack.
Step 3: Organize Your Backpack: Start organizing your backpack by placing the heaviest and most substantial items at the bottom and towards the back. This will help distribute the weight evenly across your back and prevent any strain on your shoulders or neck. Additionally, place the lighter items towards the top and front of your backpack.
Step 4: Use Compartments: Utilize the compartments in your backpack to organize your items better. Put your books and larger items in the main compartment and use the smaller compartments for smaller items such as your phone, keys, and wallet. This way, you'll be able to access everything easily without having to dig through your backpack.
Step 5: Keep Your Backpack Clean: It's essential to keep your backpack clean to maintain its durability and longevity. Ensure that you empty your backpack and clean it regularly to avoid any dirt or debris buildup. This will also help you stay organized and reduce the chances of losing any items.
JanSport does our best to restock products in a timely manner, however we cannot guarantee restocks.
Every JanSport backpack differs. In general, your backpack should hold between 10% to 20% of your body weight, with a maximum weight of 40lbs. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, your backpack should not exceed 15 to 30 pounds.
It's important to note that carrying a backpack that is too heavy can cause discomfort, pain, or even injury, especially if you carry it for an extended period. To avoid any issues, make sure to pack your backpack wisely, prioritize the essential items, and distribute the weight evenly. Also, consider using a backpack with a hip belt to help distribute the weight more evenly and reduce any strain on your back and shoulders.
Overall, it's always better to avoid carrying a backpack that is too heavy for your body. Listen to your body and take breaks if needed and consider using a rolling backpack or asking for help if your backpack becomes too heavy to carry.
