JanSport® teams up with HUF to launch two limited edition bags

Only 150 of each bag will be sold at select retail locations beginning August 13, 2009

San Leandro, Calif., (July 22, 2009) - JanSport, the original outdoor gear Brand that equips people globally with quality backpacks, travel gear and collegiate apparel, today announced its collaboration with San Francisco-based HUF, the west coast purveyor of hard-to-come-by goods, owned by pro skater Keith Hufnagel. The collaboration combines the design aesthetic of HUF's skateboarding roots with two of JanSport's classic silhouettes: the Westridge and Snoqualmie Duffel. The end result: two unique bags that boast function and style with an edge.

The JanSport Limited Edition HUF bags include two unique styles:

Westridge
Together, JanSport and HUF have reignited this classic 1970s JanSport pack with fresh new details including a distinguished leather-paneled pocket with silicon coated nylon seatbelt straps that hug the front of the pack to safely secure a skateboard. Other unique features include an electric purple pack interior with matching webbing, a 15" quilted laptop sleeve/magazine stash pocket with an interior that provides effortless pack organization.

Snoqualmie Duffel
The new limited edition HUF Snoqualmie Duffel is the perfect companion to its Westridge counterpart. Together, JanSport and HUF have created a modern interpretation of JanSport's original 1979 duffel, boasting silicon coated nylon seatbelt straps that wrap around the bottom of the duffel to safely secure a skateboard. Lined in electric purple nylon with matching webbing, the bag also features a leather-faced front pocket and a unique U-shaped zippered main compartment, along with two side pockets-one with sealed-off mud room to stash your shoes.

"JanSport is the pack we carried back in the day so the decision to work with them to create these bags gave us the chance to go back to our roots," said HUF. "We've definitely captured the influence of the HUF skate culture while staying true to JanSport's iconic look and we're really happy about how the bags turned out."

"JanSport has always been a company that is in step with its consumers, "said Eric Rothenhaus, JanSport director of research and design." "By combining contemporary design and product innovation we've taken the cue from the skateboarding lifestyle and developed two exclusive bags that showcase HUF's unique style together with JanSport's timeless appeal."

Beginning August 13, 2009, only 150 of JanSport's two Limited Edition HUF bags will be sold exclusively at HUF retail stores in Los Angeles and San Francisco, as well as through HUF's select worldwide retail partners. For more information, visit www.jansport.com/huf.

About HUF
HUF first opened its doors in August 2002 on an offbeat block of Sutter Street just above the Tenderloin District. Founded by professional skateboarder Keith Hufnagel with the aim to bring the best of what footwear, streetwear and skateboarding brands had to offer under one roof, HUF quickly grew to be known as San Francisco's premiere purveyor of hard-to-come-by goods. Since its Bay Area debut, HUF has grown into three shops and a clothing brand. Each expansion has given Hufnagel the opportunity to bring more of what the NYC native loves to his permanent home of San Francisco.
