We’ll have some more updates on our Montreal Bonfire Sessions event and special guest artist, Stars, later this week. In the meantime, we have some new music for you. It’s been a while since anyone has heard from 90′s emo rockers, Braid, considering the band “broke up” in 1999 (though the band did get together for a brief tour in 2004 and released several re-issues in 2010). Now the band is reuniting and just released a brand new EP, Closer to Closed, on August 16th and [...] Read More >

Seattle’s Bonfire Sessions event was a blast and fans started lining up at the corner of 10th and Pike as early as 11 am. People hung out, listened to music, got some shade inside the JanSport VW bus, and left their mark with [...] Read More >

With the first of this fall’s Bonfire Sessions only three days away, The Moondoggies lead singer and guitarist took some time out of his day to answer a couple questions from JanSport’s resident music guy, Matt. Q: Alright, give us the origin story: how and when did the band get together? A:The band as it is started late 2005, however we have a deeper history then that going farther back. The Moondoggies came when I returned from a summer in Alaska. I was very [...] Read More >
Our Bonfire Sessions Montreal guest artists is a doozy: these Montreal based guys (and gal) opened for Coldplay on their Vida la Vida tour back in 2008 and are on the 5th studio album of their careers (no small feat for any band). Their sound has been described as “beautiful, eloquent indie pop” and they recorded a cover of The Smiths “Asleep” for an indie charity compilation. Oh, and the entire band happens to play together in another critically acclaimed group. That should narrow [...] Read More >

This year’s Seattle Bonfire Sessions artist, The Moondoggies, owe much of their sound to the great Americana rock & roll of the 60′s and early 70′s and another group we’ve been checking out lately has drawn quite a bit of influence from this era as well, albeit from slightly different places. Belle Brigade is a group oozing with the the thick vocal harmonies and country stylings of 70′s California studio rock like Paul Simon, Fleetwood Mac and Simon and Garfunkel. The group (comprised of [...] Read More >
