My name is Ty and I am one of the lucky contributing bloggers with IMG. Here are some details about me and want you all to know I am very much looking forward to being a contributor on BeOutdoors.
Name: Tyler Gimenez
Where you call home today? Olympia, WA
How long have you been guiding? 4 years
Where is your favorite place to climb? North Cascades
What do you do to train each season? Aside from actually climbing, I find that gardening keeps my mind sharp and focused while running and cross training keeps me physically tuned for climbing.
Name one thing our readers would be surprised to learn about you? I spent a year in Iraq working for the USO.
What is the one thing you always take with you on your trips, besides your gear, of course? Flip flops.
What do you like most about your JanSport gear? The Tahoma 75 carries loads well for a lighter weight pack–I use it all the time on Rainier. My JanSport hoodie is very comfortable too.
Why did you decide to get involved with JanSport? JanSport is now a sponsor of International Mountain Guides and thus has allowed me to test a wide variety of JanSport products.
Anything else you want to share? Good weather is finally here on Mt. Rainier!

Ty was born and raised in Olympia, Washington where he began formal training with the Olympia Mountaineers. He has climbed numerous routes in the Olympics, North Cascades, Central Cascades and all the major volcanoes including 18 summits of Mt. Rainier. When not guiding he enjoys studying Geology at Evergreen State College, long moon-lite walks on the beach, remote alpine routes, and maintaining his WFR, Avy II, and food handlers certifications.
