Matt Lloyd

Matt Lloyd I am from South Africa but call Denver, Colorado my home. I have been climbing for 13 years, full time for the last 7. I enjoy a unique style of climbing--I call it adventure style. Climbing anything that calls to me; big mountains, building, ice, steep limestone, whatever. Experiencing climbing, solo or without a rope, often allows me to get into wild and amazing places free from the burdens of excess gear and crowds. I have climbed in South Africa, Chile, Canada, Mexico and France as well as all over the United States. I look to the world around me for my outdoors no matter what landscape it offers.

Just a little photo update from the road up here in cold Montana – enjoy!

New Route

I wanted to share some photos from the 2011 CLIMB X team event at Mt. Evans, Colorado (14,000 ft).  We hiked to Lincoln Lake (12,500 ft) – the new hot spot for alpine bouldering – and took photos for the 2012 Climb X catalog.

JanSport sent some packs for the team to test out. People loved the colors and the size, as well as the new fixed lid feature.

I managed my way up a new route today–it’s either a tall boulder problem or a short route, either way I believe it is the first ropeless ascent of the route which weighs in at around 13a. I’m pretty excited. Here is a quick video if you want to check it out: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NczfKYN7N8

The Infinite

I’m finally back from a couple weeks on the road, a little crack climbing in Indian Creek  in the Moab, UT area and some bouldering in Bishop, California.

I was able to drag myself up a very cool boulder problem, “The Infinite” v10 in El Dorado Springs, Colorado.  It was put up by Paul Robinson at the grade of v11 a few years ago. It’s definitely a very astetic boulder problem that revolves around 2 very small crimps, or a giant dyno. I chose the latter method.
