Lauren currently works for Jackson Hole Mountain Guides and Snow King Ski Patrol. She always has adventure on her mind. Growing up in Iowa she wasn’t exposed to the “mountain lifestyle” until college in Portland, Oregon. After her first day of climbing at Smith Rocks in 1998, her pursuit to become a better climber has not stopped. She is a graduate of Lewis and Clark College with a BA in East Asian Studies. Her passion for exploring the unknown brought her to China. After being a language student in China for two years she began her guiding career. Lauren has guided along the Silk Road of China, Tibet and Alaska. The changing seasons in the Tetons provides a lifetime of adventure. That is why Lauren has made Jackson Hole, WY her home. No one takes greater joy in being part of the Wyoming climbing community than Lauren. She has been participating in the Wyoming Bouldering series since its inception. Her passion for climbing has brought her to Mexico, South East Asia and throughout the US.

My fiance and I just returned from an 10 day trip to Kauai.  The only bag I brought was the Salish pack.  It was great as a travel bag and worked out perfectly on our 3-day backpacking trip along the Na Pali Coast.  There were two things about the bag that stood out most.  The first was that I could put my water bottle into the backpack with ease while hiking!  This was awesome.  I am not a camelback user. I usually clip a water bottle below my shoulder strap and it bangs against my hip while hiking and ski touring, so this feature was very exciting for me.  The second thing that I love about the Salish is the colors.  The bright colors make me smile :)

Currently I’m in Joshua Tree about to take my Rock Instructors Course with AMGA.  I’ve had the chance to take the Salish out on some climbs and have been using it around town.  The design seems more streamlined than others I wear.  I really like the two big pockets in front–the perfect, easy-to-get-to open space that I can fill to the brim.  I will say too that the pack’s hip belt and shoulder straps are really thick and comfy.
