Twillingate, Newfoundland

Twillingate sits on the northern coast of Newfoundland, on the edge of Iceberg Alley.
Watch the icebergs, both large and small, float serenely past with the silence broken by the cracking sound of glaciers all around.

Monts Groulx, Quebec

The Monts Groulx area sits near the Labrador border, which means it is a true outdoor oasis.
The sub-arctic tundra landscape is beautiful and stretches as far as a hiker can hope.   The rolling mountains offer some of the most challenging wilderness hiking in Quebec.

Clayoquot Sound, British Columbia

In Canada, there is no place for surfing like the islands in Clayoquot Sound, boasting hidden beaches, fantastic waves, and serene sandscapes–the perfect place to enjoy a day out surfing.

Steep Rock, Manitoba

Steep Rock is on the eastern shore of Lake Manitoba featuring unique limestone outcroppings.
Highlights include vistas from the cliffs edge and climbing down to the water level to explore the small caves that are accessible when the lake is calm.
Hiking at sunset is particularly rewarding as the last sun rays illuminate the textured limestone rock faces on the cliffs.

Travis Rice Does It Again

Travis Rice hopes to crown the best all-around snowboarder in the world by creating the Red Bull Supernatural.  The goal of the event is to flatten the playing field and really bring out the strongest overall rider.

This invitation-only snowboard contest will be held at Baldface, a cat-skiing operation in the interior of British Columbia.  Like in surfing, there will be a holding period from Feb. 2-9, 2012 to allow a window of time to run the event in the best weather conditions.  In preparation for the Red Bull Supernatural, a crew of professional lumberjacks spent  4 months climbing 40 foot trees with chainsaws, using hoist and pulley systems to build the course features. Course features include, pillow lines, transfers and huge suspended log ladders in the trees.  Creating over 100 course options, the hosts are confident that they have created the best, most diverse snowboarding runs in the world.

The inspiration behind the event came from wanting to bridge the gap between the talented up-and-comers and the film stars who started on a freestyle platform, but have moved to more backcountry-focused style.

For Travis Rice this is the start of a new movement and he believes that this type of event will spread around the world and become the highest echelon of competitive snowboarding.

The Living Ecological Alpine Pod, or LEAP, offers an environmentally conscious alternative to traditional mountain shelters.  The core benefits of the LEAP are rooted in its ability to leave a significantly less footprint on the environment due to its greater mobility and self-sustaining capabilities.  A biological toilet, thermally isolated doors and electric induction cooker are just a few of its refined interior attributes, while the self-sustaining home is outfitted with an array of technologies that allow it to self-diagnose structural issues, weather conditions, maintain emergency communications and generate power naturally through its exterior photovoltaic films.
